Colours and lacquers are everywhere: At home at furniture, on devices which we use daily. Frying pans, backing tins, lamps, tables, chairs and so forth. Outside we see it on cars, streetcars, railways and so forth.

Imagine yourself: The total number of recipes for the production of lacquers and coatings in Germany may amount half a million. And every year a great number of these are changed, improved or replaced by new products.

An industrial company produces a new series of furniture and needs a coating for this product: for furniture for children or for household devices or for rail vehicles….

For this, the specialists in the coating laboratory must know many details. Is the substrate metal, wood or plastics? Which technique has to be used to apply the coating? What does the coating have to tolerate later? What performance is needed? Can varnish containing solvents be replaced by environmentally compatible varnishes?Laboratory assistants for varnishes participate crucially in the answering of such questions.

The range of activity of laboratory assistants for coatings passes from product development over testing inspection and production scheduling to application technology.

The practical training is supplemented by special inhouse courses and professional school.

The laboratory assistant for Coatings has a lot of possibilities for a further career.

Further education at the polytechnic college or university can be sponsored by WEILBURGER Coatings  if the personnel performance is appropriated.
